  • 3 large sweet onions, thinly sliced Slice onions thinly for even cooking.
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted Use unsalted butter for better flavor control.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Feel free to experiment with different cheese types.
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, salt, and pepper.
  • Add the sliced onions and mix until well coated.
  • Place the onions in a greased baking dish.
  • Pour any remaining butter mixture over the top.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the onions.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the onions are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

Serve hot as a side dish. They pair well with grilled meats or as an appetizer. Can add a layer of breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
