Sushi Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2.5 cups water
  • 0.25 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pound imitation crab meat, shredded
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce or to taste
  • 0.25 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 sheet nori (seaweed), cut into strips
  • Soy sauce for serving

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  • Combine the rice and water in a pot and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 20 minutes, or until cooked.
  • Once cooked, move the rice to a large bowl. Add rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Mix well and let it cool.
  • In another bowl, combine the shredded crab meat, mayonnaise, sriracha, and green onions. Mix until well combined.

Baking

  • In a baking dish, spread the cooked rice evenly on the bottom.
  • Layer the crab mixture on top of the rice.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.

Notes

Sushi Bake is best served warm. You can cut it into squares or serve it straight from the baking dish. Offer nori strips and soy sauce on the side so everyone can create their own sushi bites. Make sure to rinse the sushi rice thoroughly to remove excess starch. Adjust the spiciness by adding more or less sriracha to the crab mixture.
