  • 1 cup Rice Use any variety, adjust cooking time as needed.
  • 1/4 cup Honey For the sweet component of the sauce.
  • 1/2 cup Barbecue sauce Use your favorite brand.
  • 1 cup Chicken broth Low-sodium broth is preferable.

Aromatics

  • 1 medium Onion Chopped.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced.

Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper Black pepper preferred.

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 cup Vegetables Such as bell peppers, peas, or carrots.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven according to the rice package instructions if baking.
  • In a bowl, mix honey, barbecue sauce, salt, and pepper to create the sauce.
  • In a large pan, sauté onion and garlic until fragrant.

Cooking

  • Add chicken pieces to the pan and sear them until golden.
  • Pour the sauce over the chicken, then add the rice and chicken broth, stirring to combine.
  • Bring to a simmer, then cover the pan and transfer it to the oven or cook on the stovetop until the rice is tender and the chicken is cooked through.
  • Optionally, add vegetables during the last few minutes of cooking.
  • Fluff the rice and serve hot.

Notes

Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C). Swap rice for brown rice or quinoa, noting that cooking times may vary. Add more vegetables for health benefits.
