Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is softened but not melted for best texture.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour You can substitute whole wheat flour for a denser cookie.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Add a pinch of sea salt on top before baking for a sweet and salty flavor.

Chocolate

  • 2 cups chocolate chips Feel free to experiment with different types of chocolate chips.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend the dry mixture into the wet mixture.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Baking

  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until edges are nicely browned.
  • Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with a glass of cold milk or coffee. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. Freeze for up to three months.
