  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 onion, chopped

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, brown the ground beef and onions over medium heat; drain excess fat.

Assembly

  • In a baking dish, layer sliced potatoes, followed by the cooked ground beef mixture.
  • Pour cream of mushroom soup over the layers and top with shredded cheese.
  • Season with salt and pepper.

Baking

  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly.

Serving

  • Once the casserole is done baking, let it cool for a few minutes. Serve it hot, preferably on its own or with a simple green salad.

Notes

For added flavor, include garlic powder or paprika in the ground beef mixture. You can add vegetables like carrots or green beans for more nutrition. For a crispy top, broil the casserole for a few minutes after baking.
