  • 1 cup butter, softened Make sure your butter is at room temperature for better mixing.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Use dark chocolate chips for a more intense flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto ungreased baking sheets, keeping space between each one.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe bag for up to three months.
