Main ingredients

  • 1 lb beef (sliced thinly, flank or sirloin) Slice against the grain for tenderness.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets You can use fresh or thawed frozen broccoli.
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce Adjust according to taste; can use gluten-free version.
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce Check for gluten-free option if needed.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch Used for marinating the beef.
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger (grated)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil For stir-frying.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice for serving Use white, brown, or cauliflower rice.

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Add the beef to the marinade and let it sit for 15 minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add the beef (discard marinade) and stir-fry until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the garlic, ginger, and broccoli, stir-frying for about 2-3 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and tender.
  • Return the beef to the skillet, add any remaining marinade, and cook everything together for an additional 2 minutes until heated through.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve over hot rice.

Notes

For added flavor, garnish with sesame seeds or sliced green onions. Adjust soy sauce and oyster sauce according to your taste preferences. To store, cool completely and refrigerate in an airtight container for 3-4 days, or freeze in a freezer-safe container.
