  • 1 piece ripe banana Use very ripe bananas for the best sweetness
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats You can use quick oats but they may be mushier
  • 1 cup milk Can be dairy or plant-based
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup Optional; adjust sweetness based on preference
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Feel free to experiment with spices
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a pinch salt
  • Chopped nuts or chocolate chips For topping, optional

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mash the ripe banana with a fork until smooth.
  • Add the rolled oats, milk, honey or maple syrup (if using), cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
  • Pour the mixture into a jar or container with a lid.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight (or for at least 4 hours).

Morning Serving

  • In the morning, stir the oats and add a little extra milk if it’s too thick.
  • Top with chopped nuts or chocolate chips if desired, and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftover overnight oats in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Adjust the sweetness and experiment with different spices and toppings.
