  • 3 pieces ripe bananas Use very ripe bananas for best flavor.
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Avoid overmixing the batter.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  • Stir in the melted butter until combined.
  • Add the baking soda and salt to the banana mixture and mix well.
  • Stir in the sugar, egg, and vanilla until fully combined.
  • Finally, mix in the flour until just incorporated. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.

Baking

  • Bake for about 60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
  • Let it cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Banana bread can be served with butter, cream cheese, or ice cream. For storage, wrap tightly and store at room temperature for 2-3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week. For longer storage, slice and freeze. You can toast frozen slices as needed. Consider adding nuts, chocolate chips, or dried fruit for more texture.
