  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Chocolate Chips

  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small bowl, mix flour and baking soda; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  • Beat in the vanilla and eggs until fluffy.
  • Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Drop by rounded tablespoons onto a baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature for the best mixing. Don’t overmix the dough once you add the flour to keep the cookies tender. If you prefer softer cookies, take them out of the oven a bit earlier. Experiment with different types of chocolate chips or add nuts for extra flavor. You can add chopped nuts, like walnuts or pecans, for a crunchy texture. You can also use white chocolate or dark chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate for a different flavor.
